Cognos wins project from Chubb Insurance Company of Europe
Real-time, collaborative budgeting to give ownership of targets to 350 operational managers

February 18th, 2004 - Cognos (NASDAQ: COGN; TSX: CSN), world leader in business intelligence and corporate performance management solutions, has been selected by Chubb Insurance Company of Europe (Chubb) as the software provider for its European Management Information Repository system (EMIR). Through EMIR, Chubb managers can access information that helps them to make better, more informed decisions and predict business trends based on historical data, as well as dramatically reduce time spent on administrative tasks.

EMIR enables Chubb to:

• Report and analyse the performance of the company, and segment profitability by lines of business, geography, and industries
• Examine the relationship and productivity of insurance brokers and determine whether growth targets are being met
• Improve claims management and tracking
• Improve portfolio management by segmenting business performance
