Overview
The SCOR compliant Manufacturing Analytics- mBIDS framework is a BI solution offered by Tata Consultancy Services for discrete manufacturers. The framework consists of an enterprise-wide Logical Data Model (LDM) and pre-built analytical reports and templates.
The LDM, which is process oriented and based on the SCOR model, facilitates the capture of data required for supply chain analysis, along with critical functions like sales, marketing, and finance. The model leverages the SCOR-based KPIs captured in the analytical templates to achieve value measurement across the process.
The LDM entities are mapped with OAGIS (Open Applications Group) Business Object Documents which are the interfacing standards defined for appropriate integration with applications, within and outside the organization. The solution facilitates a set of analytical reports ranging from standard reports, multidimensional OLAP reports, to dashboards.

Architecture
mBIDS transforms the operational data into business information. The framework consists of an enterprise-wide Logical Data Model (LDM) and pre-built analytical reports and templates. With the help of a custom-built data extraction and integration layer, this LDM, and the analytic reports built in tools such as Cognos, can be customized and implemented in a shorter time.
The BI LDM consists of multiple data layers; the base layer with operational data and the analytical layer with derived and summarized data.
The detailed data layer is modeled in the Third Normal Form (3NF) to ensure minimum redundancy as the granular data is expected to be in the largest volume. The analytical layer consists of
- dimensional data model which is arranged in the form of star schemas for better query response times and
- the summary layer which contains not only the aggregated data but also data, like snapshots, that are taken at a particular instance in time
