Overview
When IT organizations provide business solutions, they need to evaluate the ROI that those solutions bring. One set of metrics that are part of any ROI analysis is the number of end users accessing the solution and the duration of that usage. The Usage Monitoring framework provides both raw metric and formatted reports to easily obtain that information.
While standard IBM Cognos TM1 comes with performance metrics on application data, the system does not automatically provide end user usage statistics. Breakaway's Usage Monitoring system allows new and existing TM1 customers to easily add this capability into their environment.
BPS Usage Monitoring for IBM Cognos TM1 provides clear visibility into who is using the tool and when it is being used most often.
The software captures user access to TM1 and stores the history of usage through core TM1 objects and a series of Excel reports. Usage activity can then be trended over various grains of time (hours, days, or months).
After an application such as IBM Cognos TM1 is rolled out, the adoption period can be either slow and sporadic, or fast and pervasive. Therefore, IT organizations need to justify augmenting hardware or software in order to accommodate growth.

Features
The monitoring solution provides TM1 cubes containing detailed user usage and access information. These cubes can be accessed via the standard IBM Cognos TM1 toolset to create custom reports. The package additionally contains standard reports that show intra-day usage trends, usage duration, and inactive accounts.
Architecture
TM1 Usage Monitoring is a complete user-monitoring package containing a cube, TI processes, and Excel reports that take periodic snapshots of when users are logged onto the TM1 server.
