Overview

As corporations roll out and grow their IBM Cognos TM1 solutions, the number of cubes, dimensions, rules, and data can grow and change rapidly. As part of any best-practice application lifecycle management for TM1, data and application archiving should be part of the solution.

The Archive Toolkit for IBM Cognos TM1 provides backup and restoration of single or multiple-cube TM1 applications. Archive files can be restored to the same TM1 instance or a different one.

The solution seamlessly integrates into new or existing TM1 environments. Restored cubes can be accessed from all of the TM1 components including standard Excel, TM1Web, Executive Viewer, and Microsoft SharePoint.

Multiple archive groupings can be created on a single TM1 instance; this allows different archive strategies to be deployed within an application. Unique archive naming conventions also allow multiple archives from a single application to be restored to the same TM1 server.

Architecture

The Business Process Services component of Archive Toolkit is a set of generic TM1 Turbo Integrator processes. These processes handle all archival and restoration of TM1 data objects, including multiple cubes and dimensions to ASCII flat files.
