Cognos Portal Services provides a set of out-of-the-box "portlets" that allow organizations to easily manage and display Cognos business intelligence and reporting solutions within IBM WebSphere Portal Server.

How do I get the WebSphere Portlets?
The IBM Cognos 8 Business Intelligence and IBM Cognos ReportNet portlets are provided free with Cognos software; and the IBM Cognos Series 7 portlets are provided free with Cognos Web Services. The portlets are available as options during the respective product installation processes.

Cognos' Portlets in IBM WebSphere Portal

Cognos Portal Services
Incorporating Cognos reports, analysis, dashboards, and scorecards in IBM's Enterprise Information Portal helps drive higher returns on both BI and portal investments made by an organization.

Cognos Portal Services provides out-of-the-box portlets, for IBM Cognos 8 BI, IBM Cognos Series 7, and IBM Cognos ReportNet, allowing users to navigate, search, and view reports and other custom content:

Cognos 8 Portlets
Cognos Navigator Assists users in browsing through IBM Cognos Connection folders and content.
Cognos Search Assists users in finding Cognos BI and report content saved in the Cognos Connection folder structure.
Cognos Viewer Lets users view and interact with Cognos reports. This brings Cognos BI functionality directly into the Web-based portal environment without forcing users to go into different programs or applications.
Cognos Extensible
Applications Portlet		 Enables users to view and interact with unique Cognos applications containing their custom user content and options. These portlets are open and fully extensible and can be customized in a programmatic manner.
Cognos Metric Watch List Provides the capability to view performance metrics created in IBM Cognos Metric Studio.
Cognos ReportNet Portlets
Cognos ReportNet Navigator Assists users in browsing through Cognos Connection folders and content.
Cognos ReportNet Search Assists users in finding Cognos BI and report content saved in the Cognos Connection folder structure.
Cognos ReportNet Viewer Lets users view and interact with IBM Cognos ReportNet reports. This brings Cognos BI functionality directly into the Web-based portal environment without forcing users to go into different programs or applications.
Cognos Extensible
Applications Portlet		 Enables users to view and interact with unique Cognos applications containing their custom user content and options.
Cognos Series 7 Portlets
Cognos BI Navigator Assists users in browsing through IBM Cognos Upfront NewsBox folders and NewsItem content. Rather than using Upfront, the Cognos BI portal, end users can directly access the folders of reports, scorecards, and other BI resources, typically found through Upfront, within a WebSphere Portal environment.
Cognos BI Search Assists users in finding published Cognos BI content. Any Cognos reports accessible to a user through Upfront may be searched by that user, as if he or she were on the Web.
Cognos BI Viewer Lets users view and interact with Cognos content, using IBM Cognos PowerPlay's analysis capabilities and data cubes, and IBM Cognos Impromptu managed reports. This brings Cognos BI functionality directly into the Web-based portal environment without forcing users to go into different programs or applications.
Cognos Web Services Viewer Enables users to view and interact with custom Cognos applications created with Cognos Web Services. The Cognos Web Services portlet empowers users to include complete customization of content and options.
