Cognos Announces PowerHouse 4GL and PowerHouse Web for Linux

Cognos continues its ongoing commitment to its PowerHouse customers with the upcoming release of PowerHouse 4GL and PowerHouse Web for Linux. This is a direct port of the industry-leading application development tool that is so successful on other UNIX platforms as well as MPE/iX, OpenVMS, and Windows.

The version is 8.43E and is consistent with the 8.43E version for UNIX released in 2007. The new release is also compatible with Axiant 3.4E for thin-client applications.

The Linux version is built on Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 and also tested on SUSE Linux Enterprise 10. It supports Oracle 10g, DB2, Sybase, Eloquence, and DataDirect ODBC to Microsoft SQL Server. Indexed file support is provided by DISAM.

PowerHouse 4GL for Linux gives migrating customers yet another option. They can now move forward using an open-source computing platform while retaining the productivity and reliability of PowerHouse.

PowerHouse 4GL and PowerHouse Web for Linux will come in its own installation package.

Cognos Announces PowerHouse 4GL and PowerHouse Web for OpenVMS Itanium

This spring (2006), Cognos continues to strengthen its ongoing commitment to its PowerHouse customers with the release of PowerHouse 4GL and PowerHouse Web on Hewlett-Packard's OpenVMS operating system running on Intel Itanium 2 hardware. This is a direct port of the industry-leading application development tool that is so successful on Hewlett-Packard's Alpha platforms.

The version is 8.40D1 and is consistent with the 8.40D1 version for OpenVMS Alpha released in 2005. The Alpha and Itanium versions can be used together in mixed hardware clusters. The new release is also compatible with Axiant 3.4D1 for thin-client applications.

The Itanium version is built on version 8.2-1 of OpenVMS and supports RMS and Oracle RDB version 7.2. Oracle 10g support will be added in the next release dependant on Oracle availability.

OpenVMS customers can move forward confident in the knowledge that PowerHouse 4GL and PowerHouse Web are supported on both hardware options offered by Hewlett-Packard.

PowerHouse 4GL and PowerHouse Web for OpenVMS Itanium will come on its own CD bundled in the PowerHouse 4GL and PowerHouse Web 8.40D1 for OpenVMS package.

Cognos Announces PowerHouse 4GL and PowerHouse Web for HP-UX Itanium

This fall (2005), Cognos strengthens its ongoing commitment to its PowerHouse customers with the release of PowerHouse 4GL and PowerHouse Web on Hewlett-Packard's HP-UX operating system running on Intel Itanium 2 hardware. This is a direct port of the industry-leading application development tool that is so successful on Hewlett-Packard's PA-RISC platforms. PowerHouse 4GL and PowerHouse Web run as native Itanium applications and do not use emulation mode, thus providing the high performance that customers expect.

The version is 8.43D1 and is consistent with the 8.43D1 version for HP-UX PA-RISC released in the spring. The PA-RISC and Itanium versions can be used together in mixed hardware installations. The new release is also compatible with Axiant 3.4D1 for thin-client applications.

The Itanium version is built on version 11iV2 of HP-UX and supports the latest relational database versions.

It also supports DataDirect 5.0 ODBC to Microsoft SQL Server.

As well, PowerHouse 4GL and PowerHouse Web for HP-UX Itanium support the same non-relational data sources that are supported on PA-RISC meaning that applications can be run transparently across both platforms.

Migrating HPe3000-MPE/iX customers now have another option to choose from. They can move forward confident in the knowledge that PowerHouse 4GL and PowerHouse Web are supported on both hardware options offered by Hewlett-Packard, whether they choose to migrate to Itanium immediately or PA-RISC today and Itanium tomorrow.

PowerHouse 4GL and PowerHouse Web for HP-UX Itanium will come on its own CD bundled in the PowerHouse 4GL and PowerHouse Web 8.43D1 for HP-UX package.
