IBM Cognos Axiant 4GL - Building Applications
This 3 day course is an overview of the IBM Cognos Axiant 4GL development environment that provides the information you need, as a IBM Cognos PowerHouse 4GL developer, to build and deploy applications with IBM Cognos Axiant 4GL. Using extensive hands-on demonstrations and workshops, this course enables IBM Cognos PowerHouse 4GL developers to begin developing with the IBM Cognos Axiant 4GL workbench. The course introduces you to the IBM Cognos Axiant 4GL development environment, teaches you about the similarities and differences between IBM Cognos PowerHouse 4GL and IBM Cognos Axiant 4GL, and takes you through the steps of developing a real application. Over three days, you build a complete working application using a sustained case study. You then deploy the application, and run it as an end user.
Intended Audience:
Anyone who needs a solid foundation in the development and deployment of applications with IBM Cognos Axiant 4GL, including:

  • IBM Cognos PowerHouse 4GL application developers
  • Systems designers
  • Database administrators
  • Project managers
    Prerequisites:
    Participants should be IBM Cognos PowerHouse 4GL application developers who are familiar with the Microsoft Windows environment. Advanced IBM Cognos PowerHouse 4GL, Part I or equivalent knowledge is a prerequisite for this course. Knowledge of relational database theory is strongly recommended. Experience with at least one relational database in IBM Cognos PowerHouse 4GL is suggested.

    Migrating Applications with IBM Cognos Axiant 4GL
    This 2 day client/server course uses a combination of presentations, demonstrations, and workshops to show you how to use IBM Cognos Axiant 4GL to migrate your PowerHouse 4GL from one environment to another with an emphasis on migrating an IMAGE-based application from an MPE environment to a UNIX environment. You will learn how to migrate data structures, programs and OS command language scripts. Emphasis is on (a) using automatic migration tools within IBM Cognos Axiant, and (b) learning the aspects of your MPE application that require modifications to work in the UNIX/relational environment.
    Intended Audience:
    The course is suitable for those project managers, analysts and programmers planning a migration of an existing IBM Cognos PowerHouse 4GL application to a UNIX environment. Some discussion will be given to migrating to a windows environment as well.
    Prerequisites: Knowledge of IBM Cognos PowerHouse 4GL Knowledge of IBM Cognos Axiant 4GL is an asset.
