Cognos ReportNetT Powers New Symantec Enterprise Solution

BURLINGTON, MA, October 26, 2004—Cognos (NASDAQ: COGN; TSX: CSN), the world leader in business intelligence (BI) and corporate performance management, today announced that Cognos ReportNetT, its Web-based enterprise query and reporting environment, now powers new reporting and query capabilities in Symantec Enterprise Security Manager (ESM) 6.1, which was announced today. Symantec ESM 6.1 is the first Symantec enterprise solution to ship with enterprise-class reporting. The new enterprise-class reporting framework , powered by Cognos ReportNet, delivers unparalleled access to security audit findings, meeting the information needs of everyone - from the executive to the security administrator. Organizations can also create a wide variety of ad-hoc reports or produce advanced reports using an optional, advanced reporting-authoring tool. Reports can be automatically scheduled and delivered via email or accessed through a new Web portal Symantec Enterprise Security Manager provides more than 75 predefined reports showing compliance state and trends, specific violations, and configuration changes on host systems. In addition, Cognos ReportNet will power several other Symantec enterprise products.

The Cognos ReportNet solution draws upon Cognos' 35 years of delivering reporting and query leadership solutions to customers, delivering the next evolution of reporting technologies. Cognos ReportNet is the centerpiece of the Cognos Enterprise Business Intelligence Series, including flexible scorecards, dashboards, powerful industry-leading OLAP analysis, event detection and alerting, and data integration.
