BURLINGTON MA, July 23, 2003—Cognos (Nasdaq: COGN; TSX: CSN) the world leader in business intelligence (BI) and corporate performance management announced today that they have signed a transaction with StorageTek® under which Cognos will provide software for business intelligence. The deal was closed in Cognos' second quarter. StorageTek selected Cognos for this deal in a competitive situation against several other vendors.

StorageTek (Storage Technology Corp., NYSE:STK), managers and analysts will use Cognos' reporting and analysis solutions to improve analysis of critical customer service, equipment, financial, supply chain, and pipeline data. Additionally, senior executives can gain understanding of business performance trends, issues, and opportunities through Cognos-powered dashboards.
