The deal, worth over $USD 1 million, was closed in Cognos' first quarter. Cognos won this deal in a competitive situation against several other vendors.

Kennametal executives needed a solution that would help maintain high customer service levels while providing the ability to analyze sales trends. The Cognos solution allows Kennametal to gain timely, comprehensive insight into customer buying behavior and sales performance trends across the enterprise. Cognos Enterprise BI Series 7 will also optimize the value of Kennametal's use of SAP BW, acting as a powerful, yet easy-to-use "front-end" to these business applications. The company has also selected Cognos Enterprise Planning Series for consolidations.
