CognosŪ Names New Independent Board Member
Ottawa, Ontario and Burlington, Massachusetts, June 19, 2003Cognos (Nasdaq: COGN; TSX: CSN) today announced that its shareholders elected Paul Damp to the Company's Board of Directors at the Cognos annual and special shareholders meeting held earlier today in Ottawa.
Paul Damp is currently managing partner at the investment firm Kestrel Capital Partners. Additionally, he serves on the Boards of Davis and Henderson Income Fund and Home Equity Income Trust. Previously, Damp chaired or held senior positions on the Boards of AIT Advanced Information Technologies Inc., Architel Systems Corporation and Accugraph Corporation.
The Cognos Board of Directors consists of eight members, seven of whom are independent directors. The Board includes:
- James M. Tory, Q.C., chair of Cognos and chair emeritus and counsel, Torys LLP
- Renato (Ron) Zambonini, chief executive officer, Cognos Inc.
- John E. Caldwell, independent consultant
- Paul Damp, managing partner, Kestrel Capital Partners
- Pierre Y. Ducros, private investor
- Robert Korthals, board chair, Ontario Teachers Pension Plan Board and board chair, Gerda Ameristeel Inc.
- John Rando, board chair, Storability Software Inc., ecora Software Corporation and @Stake Inc.
- William Russell, corporate director
