Deltek's Finance Department Implements Powerful BI Solution From Cognos

— Gives employees secure access to the information they need, maximizing visibility of each division's overall performance —

BURLINGTON, MA & HERNDON, VA, January 20, 2003—Cognos (Nasdaq: COGN; TSX: CSN), the world leader in business intelligence (BI), and Deltek Systems, the leading provider of enterprise software and solutions for project-based businesses, today announced that Deltek's finance department has implemented a BI solution from Cognos. Integrating information from various data sources into one Enterprise Information Portal, Cognos gives Deltek employees secure access to critical information such as project and financial accounting, employee time and expense, human resources and payroll, and customer call tracking. This in turn maximizes the visibility of each division's overall performance, enhancing collaboration, information access and productivity.

Deltek's solution includes Cognos NoticeCast, which narrowcasts critical business intelligence reports or analysis as well up-to-the-minute operational event information to Deltek users via e-mail, digital cell phone, or personal digital assistant (PDA). The company has also integrated Cognos Series 7 with Deltek CostpointTM, an integrated enterprise automation solution for large project-based firms with complex business requirements; Deltek Time CollectionTM, a Web-based, employee timekeeping solution driving payroll, billing and job costing functions; and Deltek CRMTM, a client relationship management and opportunity tracking solution.

Deltek has achieved more efficient communication since implementing Cognos, allowing users to eliminate redundant work, increase productivity, and make faster, better decisions. Account managers are now able to track customer service calls, gaining real-time information about which representative is working with customers and what the problem entails. The solution also allows Deltek's Accounts Receivable department to utilize Cognos PowerPlay to publish reports that combine Deltek Costpoint and Deltek CRM data to display outstanding invoices for specific account managers. Using Cognos Impromptu Web Reports, account managers can then view the exact invoice sent to the client and email it to the relevant parties for further discussion.
