GE Medical Systems Standardizes on Cognos Series 7

— Global leader in medical technology and services signs multi-million dollar enterprise business intelligence deal with Cognos —

BURLINGTON, MA April 10, 2002—Cognos, (Nasdaq: COGN; TSE: CSN) the leading global provider of business intelligence solutions, today announced that GE Medical Systems has signed a multi-million dollar deal to deploy Cognos Series 7 as the company-wide business intelligence standard.

GE Medical Systems is a global leader in medical imaging, interventional procedures, healthcare services, and information technology. GE Medical has purchased the complete framework of Series 7 business intelligence products, including Impromptu® Web Reports, PowerPlay®, Cognos Query and Visualizer. In addition, GE Medical will be rolling out Cognos Finance, an enterprise-wide financial application that provides a complete framework for financial professionals to understand and monitor the performance of the business.

The initial Cognos deployment will roll out to more than 5000 employees in departments across GE Medical, which will use Cognos business intelligence to analyze and report on critical key performance indicators (KPI's) and drive corporate performance management initiatives throughout the enterprise.
