Carlson Wagonlit Travel Selects Cognos® Business Intelligence to Power Discovery Tool

BURLINGTON, MA, January 23, 2002—Cognos® (NASDAQ:COGN; TSE: CSN), the leading global provider of business intelligence solution, today announced that Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT), a world leader in business travel management with more than $12 billion in annual sales, has selected Cognos' online analytical processing solution. CWT will utilize Cognos PowerPlay for use in Discovery, CWT's electronic reporting tool. Discovery, which delivers sophisticated travel expenditure reporting via the Web, is one component of CWT Symphonie, the first fully integrated travel management environment. Deployment of Discovery with the Cognos business intelligence capability is scheduled for mid-2002.
Discovery currently serves more than 300 customers around the world with another 800 expected to come online by 2003. It is used by procurement and travel managers, as well as corporate executives to track and research company use of and spending on air, hotel, and car services. Integrating Cognos PowerPlay into Discovery, will allow end users to perform detailed, multidimensional analysis on large volumes of summarized travel-spending data in a Web, Windows, or Excel environment.
