BURLINGTON, MA, January 25, 2001—Cognos® (Nasdaq:COGN; TSE:CSN), the world's largest and most successful business intelligence company, today launched its Enterprise Portal Partner (EPP) program. Designed to provide customers using industry-leading portals such as Corechange, InfoImage, Plumtree Software, SageMaker and Viador with a single view of traditional and e-business information for strategic decision-making, Cognos' EPP program ensures that joint customers have a common entry into Cognos' industry-leading business intelligence solutions. Customers can access Cognos' managed reporting, multidimensional analysis, ad hoc query and visualization capabilities through a range of portal solutions.

Through Cognos' EPP program, portal vendors will optimize their solutions to seamlessly integrate with Cognos UpfrontT, a portal service that provides end users with a single, Web-based point of personalized access to Cognos business intelligence (BI) information, as well as non-BI content. Using Cognos Upfront, content delivery and management is centralized and accessible through a customizable interface that is designed for portal integration to meet the unique needs of different types of users. By integrating Cognos business intelligence into their portal of choice, customers can search, review and analyze business-critical information for decision-making, ultimately enhancing relationships with customers, suppliers and partners.

In the last year, Cognos has collaborated closely with portal vendors to ensure that joint customers can take full advantage of Cognos' business intelligence solutions. In October, Cognos announced its membership in Plumtree Software's network of partners and customers developing Plumtree Portal GadgetsT, plug-in components for extending the Plumtree Corporate Portal with new application services. Cognos has developed a suite of gadgets that empower joint customers to query strategic data sources on market trends, customer buying habits, channel performance and profitability from personalized portal pages. In addition, Cognos has joined the InfoImage Federated Alliance Program.
