Cognos CEO to Lead new Ottawa Hospital Campaign
- Canadian High Tech Leader to Help Raise the Standard of Healthcare Excellence in the National Capital Region -
Ottawa, ON, December 3, 2001The Ottawa Hospital Foundation and CognosŪ (Nasdaq:COGN; TSE:CSN) the leading global provider of business intelligence solutions, today announced that Ron Zambonini, president and chief executive officer of Cognos, has been named Chair of the new Ottawa Hospital Foundation Legacy Campaign. In this position, Mr. Zambonini will lead the development and execution of the Legacy Campaign and play a key role in communicating a bold new vision for The Ottawa Hospital. In the coming months, Mr. Zambonini will be recruiting top level business and community leaders to help head this project.

The $100 million Ottawa Hospital Foundation Legacy Campaign is focused on building a first rate Hospital and Research Institute to care for those who live in the region, and to attract top healthcare talent to live and work in our burgeoning community. Specifically, the Campaign will seek to raise $60 million for patient care at the Hospital and $40 million for the Research Institute. The Campaign will be the largest investment in a generation for healthcare in our community.

Ron Zambonini, a leader in the Canadian business community for more than a decade, joined Cognos in 1989 as vice president of research and development and was promoted to senior vice president of R&D within a year. In January 1993 he accepted the positions of president and chief operating officer and became the company's most senior executive when promoted to president and chief executive officer in September 1995.
