Burlington, MA, November 14, 2001—Cognos® (NASDAQ: COGN; TSE: CSN), the leading global provider of business intelligence solutions, today announced its support for Hewlett Packard's (HP) new business directions for the HP e3000 business servers. Cognos will continue to provide investment protection for its customers using the Cognos PowerHouse® application development tools on that platform.

In line with HP's plans, Cognos intends to continue development of the core PowerHouse tools for the HP e3000 until November 2003, and to provide support for the final HP e3000 release of these tools until December 2006."

Cognos will work closely with HP and its global partner network to provide customers with a smooth migration path from the HP e3000 for their PowerHouse applications. The company is currently developing new support programs that will allow customers to benefit from continued technical support for PowerHouse on their HP e3000 systems, together with simple transfers of their PowerHouse licenses to their chosen replacement platform.

The company is also planning new, Web-based training opportunities to help developers migrate PowerHouse applications to new environments, use PowerHouse tools with relational databases, and develop client-server and Web-based applications with the PowerHouse tools.
