BURLINGTON, MA, August 7, 2001—Cognos^® (Nasdaq: COGN ; TSE: CSN), the leading provider of business intelligence solutions, is deploying a business intelligence solution with the Traction Technologies Group of Dana Corporation (NYSE: DCN). The Cognos solution delivers product lifecycle and supplier information reports over the Internet, as well as planning, analysis, and visualization to further improve supply chain performance.

Dana's Traction Technologies Group will use Cognos Impromptu Web Reports^®, Cognos PowerPlay^® Web, and Cognos Visualizer^® globally to build reports in a central data repository and deliver them internally via the Web.

The Cognos solution will be deployed to all plant managers, controllers, accounting staff, and sales and marketing staff, and is expected to replace several dozen mainframe reports. Reports that once took several days to build are expected to take minutes, without assistance from the IT department.
