Cognos is all the Rage!
Cognos and Raging Bull
Ron Zambonini, Cognos President and CEO, recently discussed getting smarter with business intelligence with Raging Bull. Following is a sample of what Raging Bull had to say about Cognos:
What if you had business software that could access all of your company's numbers, and slice it and dice it in any manner of your choosing? Even better, what if with one click, you could see a real-time, color graphic display of said data?
Cognos sits atop the business intelligence market with software that allows companies to access and analyze data in a quick and easy-to-understand format. And as the world starts moving to Internet time, such speed is of the essence when youre a multibillion-dollar corporation with thousands of employees and mountains of data scattered throughout the world. In fact, IDC predicts that global revenues from business intelligence software will quadruple from $3.9 billion in 2000 to $12.78 billion in 2004.
Ron Zambonini, Cognos President and CEO, is right where he wants to be, steering the company beyond its current 33% market share (according to First Security Van Kasper) into the future. With a $3.4 billion market cap and an unwavering stock that weathered April's market crash remarkably well, Zambonini is quietly gathering his resources to break into the world's top tier of software companies.
In September, Cognos announced it would acquire NoticeCast Software, which specializes in wireless information delivery. The deal opens the way for Cognos customers to have analytical data at their fingertips through wireless devices, an avenue which Zambonini feels has explosive potential.
